75th Primetime Emmy Awards (2024)
Jeff Bridges will be 73 years old in 6 months. In fact, he is an old man. His character makes those grunting noises trying to get up in the morning and you also hear a very rare stream of urine in the middle of the night. Peter Bogdanovich’s seminal "The Last Picture Show," Bridges continued to build an enviable career in a number of carefully drawn roles, each truly unique and many more memorable than the last.
John Lithgow will be 77 years old in 4 months
In the end, he got the "Crazy Heart" A few years ago, then last year we almost lost him to Covid-19. But he’s back as an old ex-spy and perfect for this latest complex part. Also, by very narrow definitions, an old man. Is he the obvious villain of this story, or could he really be the hero?
Not to be missed
You’re never sure with a Lithgow character, and this one is no exception. The supporting roles for longtime veterans like Amy Brenneman and Joel Gray are also well-written and, of course, brilliantly well-acted. But make no mistake: this miniseries belongs entirely to the one and only Jeff Bridges. And to all of us who remain his long-time fans after more than half a century. 9/10.
